Our Mission
To plan, protect, restore and enhance parks, community gardens, trails and other greenspaces in the Greater Newburgh Area. Working together with community organizations, residents, city officials and local businesses, the Conservancy:
- Raises awareness, community engagement & funds for trees, parks and greenspaces in and around Newburgh.
- Fosters public, private & not for profit partnerships.
- Engages organizations, communities, and individuals to collaborate in developing parks and greenspaces.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The City of Newburgh Conservation Advisory Council, Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy, and Outdoor Promise have teamed up as proud partners of the Arbor Day Foundation to initiate an Environmental Justice Fellowship program in the City of Newburgh, made possible by a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and TD Bank in 2021.
We center our work on environmental justice strategies; black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) leadership; peer-to-peer community engagement; and equitable access to trees. To ensure that our activities will be appropriate, just, and long-lasting, our primary focus is on supporting young community leaders who can share their passion and skills for tree-based environmental justice with their families, friends, neighbors, and local business owners.
